If you aren’t able to install a water softening filter in your home, a baking soda bath can be water-softening in a tub. By performing a soak on your lace front wig about every three weeks, your hair will be bouncy, soft and keep its shine. You may be surprised how long this routine can extend the life of your lace front, some owners have reported keeping units in factory condition for two years!

Aside from the bounce, texture and shine, the baking soda bath helps loosen tap residue on the poly edges of units too. You can actually see residue left from your hair products float up to the top of the baking soda bath when performing an overnight soak.

If you would like to give this technique a shot, here is the recipe for a baking soda bath:

Pour ½ to ¾ cup of baking soda into a large Rubbermaid container. Use at least a 3 quart tub if you’re soaking a full cap unit, or 1.5 to 2 quart sizes will work for smaller units. Using water about as warm as you can still put your hand in, fill the container. Make sure you don’t put in so much water the tub will overflow when you add your hair unit, but don’t put the unit in yet. Stir the mixture until the baking soda is fully dissolved.

Brush your lace front and place it in the mixture, making sure it is fully immersed in the solution. Place a cover over the container to ensure pets and children won’t get into it, and leave the unit to soak for at least four hours. If you can, leave the lace front unit to soak overnight.

When the soaking time is completed, remove the unit and rinse it as thouroughly as possible. Once you are certain the unit is free of any residue, carefully wash it with a clarifying shampoo. Rinse it again, and apply an intensifying conditioner (Pantene, L’Oreal and Kerasilk come highly recommended for the best results).

Since there will be some residual baking soda in your hair unit, you will find you don’t have to use as much shampoo as you normally would. You will probably need only one-third of the normal amount, so apply the shampoo sparingly.

Like the results you get with your hair unit? You can also use baking soda in your baths to achieve some great results for your skin. The baking soda softens your water and a nice long soak not only softens your skin but takes off surface impurities as well.

Your lace-front wig can be a real investment in style. It looks great and you feel good wearing it. But how do you preserve its life and get the most wear for your dollar when every time you clean it, it looks a little less fabulous?

The very same chorine used to purify your water, even though it’s a small amount, still is present when you turn on the faucet.

That’s one reason your clothing fades when you wash it, and it’s part of the reason your hair color will fade and become brassy with everyday wear, even if have been using hair products with UV protectants.

And beyond that, anyone who lives with a city water supply is familiar with the havoc its hard water can wreak on your clothing, plumbing fixtures, and of course your lace front units.

The chlorine, calcium, iron and lime in the water do a number on you, your hair, your skin, and your lace front units. Then, soaps, shampoos and other cleaning products are not really formulated to work with hard water and can’t perform to the best of their abilities. The combination of minerals and ineffective cleaning products can make a lack-luster mess of your unit.

So is there anything can we do to soften and purify our water? Are we destined to live a life of damaged skin, hair and hair units? Never fear, there is hope. A routine combining filtered water washings with a baking soda bath has been shown to keep a unit factory soft for two years!

A filtering unit uses crystals to absorb the chlorine, calcium and lime in your water. So that helps somewhat in the battle of protecting your hair unit. But to keep your unit soft, all the hair products must be rinsed out completely. For that to happen you must have a full-flow showerhead. The usual 2.5 gpm variety simply will not get the hair clean, so check the manufacturer’s specifications when purchasing a shower head.

To make your hair unit look and feel its best, it must be free of all shampoo and styling products. So a baking soda bath followed by a thorough rinse helps to loosen built up hair products from the unit. This cleansing is also helpful if you are travelling, since most hotels won’t usually have softened water. This soak and rinse technique can also be helpful when doing a detach-reattach, but make sure you have a spare unit on hand.

So there’s a new routine for your lace-front cleaning regimen. Install a full-flow showerhead, a filtering unit, and cleanse your hair unit with an occassional baking soda bath. The cleaner, softer water won’t only help your hair look great, but your skin will benefit as well.

Sure, it looks great when you’re wearing it. But some time or another you’re going to have to remove and clean your lace front wig. Proper cleaning of the unit can preserve its look and lengthen its life, and we all want our lace fronts to look great for as long as possible, don’t we?

So here are some tips and techniques for removing and cleaning your lace front wig. Read them carefully, understanding the basic technique and gathering the needed supplies before starting. These tips have helped many a lace front have a long life, so the same thing would apply to your own wigs:

•	To remove your lace front wig, take a cotton pad or sponge tip swab and dab 99% alcohol or Adhesive Release at the hairline. Slowly peel back the lace, dabbing underneath as it releases from your scalp.

•	Prior to a shampoo, remove the tape and residue from your unit’s lace. Using a spong tip swab, apply Adhesive Release or 99% Isopropyl Alchohol anywhere the tape has been. Swab through the top of the lace onto the tape. Within a minute or two the tape should release, and then you can pull it off.

•	Be especially careful at the hairline. Soak the front portion of the unit in a shallow container with adhesive release for about 15 minutes and the tape should easily come off.

•	If you don’t use an alcohol-based adhesive release, flush the lace with alcohol after soaking. This will eliminate any oily residue from the release solution, because without a clean surface, the tape won’t stick when you reapply the unit.

•	When shampooing, rinse the hair about an inch from the knot, spraying in the direction of the hair toward the ends. Use a rinse sprayer, such as you might have in your shower or kitchen sink. Use cold water and avoid wetting the foundation of the wig or the knots, which can make them unravel and let the hair fall out more quickly.

•	Working in ½ inch sections about 3 inches wide, apply shampoo to the hair, starting about 1 inch above the knots. Work the shampoo to the ends of the hair until you’ve covered the entire unit. Remember, use a shampoo designed for color treated hair, and dilute it with water.

•	Allow the shampoo to sit up to 60 seconds and rinse completely. When all of the shampoo is removed, blot excess water from the hair with a soft towel.

•	Lightly wipe the base of the wig from the inside with a towel, then repeat with a sponge or cloth soaked in 99% alcohol. Alcohol will draw water from the knots, an important factor in the longevity of your hair unit.

•	While it’s still wet, put the wig on your head. Make certain the hairline is the width of four fingers from your eyebrows, and that the temples are three fingers from the corners of your eyes. Carefully comb the hair, starting at the ends and working toward the knots. Comb and style as usual, it is easiest to part the hair while it is still wet.

•	To maintain its shape, keep the hair system pinned to a canvas block when not in use. If the block is too small or too large it can cause the foundation to stretch, so make sure the block is the same size as the wig.

•	Pin a ½” strip of cardboard on top of the hairline while the unit is wet, and allow it to dry overnight. This will make it easier to style the hair back away from your hair line.

So there you have a list of tips to help your lace front look sensational. And we all know, when you’re lace front looks sensational, you look sensational. Isn’t that what everyone wants?

Long, luscious hair is a beautiful thing. When your hair looks good, you look good, and isn’t that what it’s all about? But prolonged wearing of wigs can be hard on your scalp if you don’t take the proper precautions. Adequate cleansing of the scalp and the use of foundation tapes are two ways to take the stress off your skin. Paying attention to your skin’s reaction to different adhesives is another key to keeping your scalp happy and healthy. This article will briefly discuss how you can keep your skin in prime shape, so you can fully experience the joy of beautiful hair with your lace front wig.

To keep your scalp healthy, it must stay clear of oily buildup while wearing your lace front hair system. Cleanliness also protects against odor. Before applying your lace front, cleanse your scalp with an astringent solution of 70-75% Isopropyl Alchohol to cleanse pores, eliminate oils and remove perspiration.

Over time, tapes and liquid adhesives can irritate your scalp. Products such as Skin Prep, by Smith & Nephew, can protect your skin from the irritation caused by adhesives. It forms an invisible barrier between the adhesive and your skin, and the pull stress is absorbed somewhat by the barrier instead of your skin.

The foundation materials of your lace front wig withstand a lot of stress when you pull off tape or other adhesives. This can cause the material to tear and knots to unravel over time. Foundation tape can protect the foundation from excessive stress. Foundation tape stays on the unit for a month or more of constant wear, and the regular double-sided tape is just applied to the foundation tape. This way, the stress of changing tape is put on the foundation tape and not on the foundation material itself. This method also reduces the buildup of tape residue in the knots. To keep it attached through shampoos and longer wear, place a small piece of lace front support tape underneath.

Liquid adhesives tend to work better than tapes on a lace front since they allow the lace to lay flat against your scalp, but different adhesives will react in various ways on each individual person’s skin. Never continue to use a liquid adhesive which causes prolonged irritation to your scalp. If you experience prolonged redness or other irritation, you should try another adhesive or attachment method to avoid infection.

So there you have a few tips to protect your scalp and get the most joy out of wearing your lace front wigs. You and your hair units can have a long and beautiful relationship, but as with any relationship you’ve got to take a few steps to lay a good foundation.

This February marks the first full year I’ve had my Lace Wig Training System on the market. The system has been a huge success and has already shipped to every state in the United States, and multiple countries already!

There are a ton of people who, after purchasing my system, want hands on training, so I decided last year to start offering hands-on seminar’s that teach people how to create Lace Wigs from scratch!

February 13&14 I had the first Lace Wig Mastery Training seminar of this year! This past weekend was some of the most fun I’ve had in a long time! There couldn’t have been a better way to kick off the New Year.

Below are just a few of the pictures from the seminar. We had a sold out crowd of very talented individuals who flew or drove in the snow from all parts of the United States.

There were cash prizes, hands on training, food, live demonstrations, and so much more. These two-day seminars are amazing! I absolutely love getting to know everyone.

The March 27 & 28 seminar has sold out. Due to high demand, I’ve added March 13 & 14! There are still 7 slots left. I’d love to see you there!

If you’ve ever thought about doing something like this, be sure to fill out the application by clicking on the link below.

Be sure to watch the video as I explain everything there is to know about the seminar as well as the amazing training you’ll get, friends you’ll make, and the great food!

Hello everybody, Marquetta here! Recently one lucky person had the opportunity to win a full day with me, spending money, and a night a 5-star hotel. That lucky person was Monique King. Well to my surprise, Monique wanted to share on my blog about her entire experience she had while in Charleston visiting me. She asked if it would be okay if I posted it on my blog for everybody to see. Of couse I said “yes!”. I hope you take the time to read it!

HERE IS MONIQUE’S BLOG POST CALLED “A DAY WITH MARQUETTA BRESLIN”.

Peace and Blessing to all… My name is Monique C. King; I have been using Marquetta’s Training Systems for years. I am very pleased with the quality, format, and repetition of Marquetta’s Training Systems and if you haven’t tried them, you don’t know what you are missing. Marquetta is an excellent skilled educator that takes into consideration the most common learning styles which are Visual, Auditory, Tactile/Kinesthetic.

An excellent educator must take these learning styles into consideration when teaching adults, and Marquetta does. If you want a quality education in the art of hair, forget the rest, and learn from the best, Marquetta Breslin. Since I have been using Marquetta’s Training Systems, my income has increased by 60%. Truthfully, before I discovered Marquetta’s Training Systems, I was on my way to eviction and bankruptcy due to an armed robbery that left me temporarily disabled. After learning from Marquetta, I was able to work from home and generate more income while I was recovering physically and spiritually. It has been a long and painful journey, but change has come!

Ladies and Gentleman I encourage you to “Quickly” grab Marquetta’s Lace Wig Training System. I promise you, it will change your life and the lives of others. What do you have to lose? Even with our suffering economy, one business will always generate profit, and that is The Hair Business! Act now and don’t miss your chance to train with Marquetta. Again, learn from the best. Stay Blessed and Highly Favored!

The “Life changing” Email

On October 20, 2008, I never knew that I would open an e-mail that would actually change my life. As I slowly gasped and used my mouse to open that email, nothing could have prepared me for the message that I was the winner of Marquetta’s Lace Wig Training System. Of course, I must admit, I was in a state of complete shock; I had never won anything in my entire life, yet alone a vacation. I was ecstatic. Soon after, Marquetta congratulated me personally and my travel arrangements was complete. I was on my way to Charleston, SC.

On My Way and a Night in Paradise

As I boarded for my trip to Charleston, SC on December 5. 2008, I was absolutely elated. I knew that I was about to embark on a wonderful and exciting journey. After my nice long trip, I was greeted warmly by Marquetta personally and we were off. As we pulled up to The Five Star Woodlands Inn in Summerville, SC, I was excited about my stay, I knew that it was going to be a wonderful stay, or did I? As I entered my hotel room my eyes were wide and jaw dropped, I was in paradise! I could not believe that Marquetta had put me up in a “Penthouse Style” room with an excellent view and an extravagant Jacuzzi with a Celebrity Style bed. Talk about Southern Hospitality! I felt like a celebrity! Soon after, Marquetta had presented me with my prize, which was her Lace Wig Training System and $250.00 spending cash! Marquetta even treated me to dinner and went I returned to the Woodlands, I enjoyed a night of peace by myself in Paradise.

A Day with Marquetta

After a magnificent night of peace and solitude, I checked out at noon and Marquetta picked me up and our day started. Marquetta and I had lunch at the Woodlands Inn Restaurant and I must say, the food was extraordinary! (To the winners of Marquetta’s next contest, make sure you check it out when you travel to Charleston.) After a tasty lunch and extensive chat session we were off to savor the day.

Our first stop was to the movies to see Cadillac Records which was an excellent movie. The movie theatres in Charleston are much better that the ones in the city. (If you live in the DC area, you can relate.) After the movie was over, we traveled to Downtown Charleston, SC for shopping and fun!

How can I describe the shopping scene in Charleston? Fabulous! We had a ball! Ironically, while we were Downtown, we caught a fabulous Historic Christmas Concert, which is exactly what I needed to get into the Christmas Spirit at the time. It was a magnificent production. As the night progressed we left Downtown Charleston to visit the Braids by Breslin Warehouse and Studio. There I toured Marquetta’s state of the art facility and she presented me with added bonuses as she does with everyone when you purchase her products. (Marquetta appreciates all of her customers and everyone gets the same bonuses, no special treatment. Everyone gets treated the same, Guaranteed!) After we left the studio, we went shopping once more and then we had our “departing dinner”.

It was the end of my trip and the beginning of an exciting journey. Boy, we did a lot in only eight hours! Marquetta, is the most giving, warm, and kindhearted person I have ever met, we have a lot in common but I believe that the major things that we have in common is that we are giving and we are women of our word. God has worked through Marquetta to change many lives. Thanks to God, I have generated enough profits for my non-profit venture to help those in need. “The Hope Project”. I dedicate my life to helping those in need. And it is good. Thank you Marquetta for all that you do!!! God Bless You and may God continue to richly bless you and your family!

I was just on YouTube and saw a video of Raquel Welch donating wigs to cancer patients. It truly touched my heart. Seeing all those women so happy with their new wigs reminded me of when my mom lost all her hair. I remember watching her tear up with joy as she put on the Lace Wig I made for her.

And the coolest thing is that I’m hearing all kinds of success stories from people who ordered my Lace Wig Training System and are now making Lace Wigs for cancer patients, family members, and themselves – and having a blast doing it!ordered my Lace Wig Training System and are now making Lace Wigs for cancer patients, family members, and themselves – and having a blast doing it!

When I was creating my Lace Wig Training System, I never dreamed it would have this much impact. I feel blessed just to know that people are learning so much from my system, and when I see a story like this, it makes me even more happy that so many of my customers are enjoying big success in wig making.

It’s not just about the money (although there’s a ton of money out there if you learn the skills); it’s more about the joy you see on a woman’s face the first time she puts on the wig YOU made for her.

There aren’t many experiences in the world that can give you that special feeling!
